Award winning CF1 aims for a blockbuster from Wales

Film production company CF1, which took the award for Best Film at the Bafta Cymru Awards ceremony in April, is aiming to produce the next British hit movie in Wales with investment backing from Finance Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government.
Cardiff-based CF1 accepted the Bafta for its 2002 production of 'Plots with a View', a comedy set in the Rhondda Valley staring Brenda Blethyn, Alfred Molina, Christopher Walken and comedian Lee Evans. Amongst its previous production successes; CF1 can also boast the award-winning 'Testimony of Taliesin Jones' (currently screened on Sky), starring Jonathan Pryce, and the thriller 'Alone' starring John Shrapnel, Laurel Holloman and Miriam Margolyes.
CF1 hope to screen their latest film, 'The I Inside', starring Ryan Philippe, in the Cardiff Screen Festival this coming November. A new Finance Wales' investment will complete a funding package that will enable CF1 to create a team to develop a slate of future productions. The complete investment package includes a Welsh Assembly Government 'Assembly Investment Grant', and a private investment from Wales' largest television facilities group, Barcud Derwen.
Finance Wales Mezzanine Fund Manager Tania Costigan said: "We are delighted to be investing in CF1. We believe the Welsh film industry can provide Finance Wales with significant financial return. Our investment offers increased opportunity for CF1 - and will also help develop and promote the industry as a whole within Wales."
