EBS To Unveil New Pawa Software

News Image
TV data service provider EBS is to demonstrate its Pawa software at this year's IBC.

Pawa is a multi-platform, multi-territory, scalable software solution that allows linear and non-linear electronic program guide (EPG) data to be aggregated, restructured and delivered to any platform. Customers that rely on Pawa for their EPG data services include AMC Networks, BBC Worldwide, BT Sport, DStv, Euronews, Turner Broadcasting, and QVC.

As demand for content continues to increase, the role of the EPG has grown. In the traditional linear world when channels and platforms need to aggregate and supply data for the EPG, there is a 'create-once-distribute-many-times' approach.

The 24/7 accessibility of VOD/Download-to-Own (DTO) content means traditional schedule information is no longer tied to the programme's date and time of viewing. Pawa accommodates the full range of distribution requirements needed by broadcast professionals enabling them to control the EPG data workflow by using a system that can drive both linear and non-linear data via a single database.

Pawa can import listings from a variety of formats, storing them centrally in preparation for distribution. Editors can then add any further data required such as translations, editorial or extra metadata – such as images or cast – before the listings are delivered wherever required, including platforms, web, print, apps and more.

The solution can be purchased as a managed service where EBS handles the entire EPG data process, or alternatively as a software-as-a-service option with full training and support.

It offers enhanced support for:

Channels: Providing linear and non-linear EPG data services for channels broadcasting across multiple platforms and multiple territories. This includes a full portfolio of additional services including editorial, translation, and metadata and image management. EBS enables broadcasters to control their entire EPG workflow allowing greater accuracy and creative control.

Platforms: Enabling platforms to deal with linear and non-linear information for a full portfolio of channels by aggregating all data through a central system for consistency and ease of workflow. By aggregating the correct data directly from the studio or content owner, EBS can ensure that the EPG data is correct before delivering in a consistent file format.

Listings: EBS has a database of listings for hundreds of channels worldwide including a comprehensive set of metadata for the UK and Irish market. This provides its clients with high-quality TV schedules for hundreds of channels.
