QVC Expands Contract With EBS
EBS has announced that UK shopping channel QVC has expanded its contract with EBS to include all four channels.
EBS already enables EPG data services for QVC Beauty, QVC Style and QVC Extra and now provides services for the main QVC channel.
QVC sends its EPG data to EBS' team who proof read and edit the schedules to ensure that they comply with stringent platform regulations. The company then adds features, such as series linking, before distributing via its Mediator scheduling application to press and platform outlets including: Freeview, Sky, Freesat, Virgin, UPC, TalkTalk and Connect TV. The EPG team at QVC also has direct login access to Mediator to enable out-of-hour changes following full training from EBS.
When providing platforms with EPG data there are a number of technical challenges for channels to navigate, one of which is the twice-yearly, clock changes. When this happens, channels have to add or remove an hour's programming from their schedules, which is not a simple process. This presents a challenge for channels as time changes occur at different times in different countries, which means schedules for the same channel will vary based on country or region. EBS provides a solution to this problem by adapting the schedule as necessary and sending to the platform.
Neha Sudra-Patel, MCR Manager, QVC explained: "Our relationship with EBS is really important because they have the responsibility of making sure that our EPG schedules are sent accurately, on time and in the correct format for the platform. They provide us with solutions for problems relating to the EPG schedule such as the clock change, which is a real challenge. Prior to working with EBS we had to take care of this manually but now it's handled by the EBS team."
