Kingston inmedia at IBC 2003

Kingston inmedia, the 2003 World Teleport Association Operator of the Year, will be revealing its Customer Controlled Playout solution at IBC 2003 (stand 1:339).
This competitive new playout platform is part of Kingston inmedia's commitment to providing the right level of service to operators at each stage of their channels' development.
Customers control programme scheduling and ingest from their own premises using a VPN connection. As the channel matures and requires more ingest or takes on a new direction, operators can decide to outsource more
complex playout requirements to Kingston as well as adding new functionality, such as subtitles, teletext, live events, voice overs and multiple audios, for example.
"When developing Customer Controlled Playout, we had the early days of a newly launched channel in mind, as well as simple channels and those based purely around premium rate telephony services. In these cases, channel operators are unlikely to require high levels of ingest or need advanced subtitling, teletext or interactive capabilities that our full playout service provides. Alternatively, 'tech savvy' channel operators might prefer the autonomy of managing their own output," said John Dunlop, Head of Broadcast Marketing, Kingston inmedia.
"With Customer Controlled Playout, customers will be able to take care of their own programming output, but with the same high quality back-up they'd expect from Kingston. This will dovetail with our existing full service, giving customers the option of adding Participation TV, iTV, multiple language, sub-titling and ad insertion to the programming mix as their requirements change," added Dunlop.
