Visions choose PTV for latest OB vehicle

The compact nature of DK-Audio’s new PTV PT5202 Compact VariTime Sync Generator has proved popular with Visions, the UK’s largest independent supplier of Outside Broadcast facilities.
The company has installed two of the units in its latest OB vehicle and support truck.
Visions’ chief engineer Rob Newton says the size of the half 19” rack-mounted unit, which features front panel LCD control, was ideal for the new vehicle.
“Rack space is always an issue with OB vehicles, so the fact that the PT5202 delivered all the features we wanted in a compact way made it an idea choice. It is also a very reliable unit, which is an important consideration when you are dealing with live broadcast situations,” he said.
The PT5202 includes all basic features for professional sync, timing and test signals. Its user-friendly front panel control is clearly labelled and features a separate pushbutton for quick and easy access to main functions.
Also included is moving text on the colourbar pattern, 8 fields for PAL, 4 fields for NTSC Master applications with internal high stability reference and Genlock to PAL, NTSC, or 10 MHz clock for slave applications. Outputs include 3 x black burst, 1 x SDI signal generator (incl. SDI black), 1 x analogue video generator, 1 x AES/EBU or analogue audio, 1 x word clock at 44.1 or 48 KHz.
The new Vision OB is now being used to supply Channel 4’s horse racing coverage. Alongside the new PT5202s, the truck also features a number of PTV PT5664 Waveform monitors, which were chosen for because they are lightweight units that offer good value for money.
