Leader Expands LVB440 IP Analyzer With New Features
Leader Electronics has announced new additions to the feature set of its award-winning LVB440 IP analyzer. Designed for use in IP environments, the LVB440 can be accessed locally or remotely by up to eight users at the same time via a standard HTML-5 web browser. Applications include monitoring and analyzing high-bitrate media traffic in broadcast studios, OB vehicles, remote production facilities, master control environments and transmission networks.
Occupying a space-efficient 1U, the LVB440 gives production teams the resources they need to perform real-time checks on large numbers of media data streams in parallel at multiple locations. It incorporates high-precision low-latency analysis of SD, HD, UHD and full 4K data flow. Data rates of 10, 25, 40 and 50 gigabit/s are supported, extending up to 100 gigabit/s via dual interfaces. Operators gain the ability to survey every media transport layer of an IP network quickly and easily, allowing issues to be rectified before they impact the quality of service experienced by television viewers.
The new additions include an extended audio toolset supporting all current Dolby™ standards, enhanced event logging capabilities and a supplementary information display giving operators advice relevant to each measurement.
The extended audio toolset incorporates a new audio display formatted to facilitate efficient monitoring across an almost limitless number of transport streams. Up to 64 channels can be accessed and managed in single categories such as monaural, stereo and 7.1.4 immersive. Audio loudness is displayed in LUFS (Loudness Units relative to Full Scale), the standard measurement format used for audio normalization in television broadcasting and professional media streaming. Supplementary audio tools include Dolby metadata display, a relative-phase goniometer and close-space room metrics. An isolation mode can be selected at any time to highlight issues relevant to a single channel. Audio-quick controls can be used to access or mute a source or to adjust the signal level. Immersive sound can be downmixed to stereo if required for easy monitoring of actual audio content.
The IP error logging capabilities of the LBV440 have been expanded to capture and log up to 2,000 events on a continuous rotation basis. This provides a highly efficient reference record of network activity prior to a QoS-related incident.
A new supplementary-information display gives LVB440 operators relevant details about each measurement. This dynamically updates to provide context-related guidance about the signals or data being analyzed at any specific moment. Explanatory hovercards alongside the numerical readouts provide fast access to the display data's significance plus supporting guidance about the analysis method being used.
All these new features will be demonstrated on the Leader stand (10C.01) at IBC 2023, RAI-Amsterdam, 15-18 September. Theme of the exhibit will be 'Making Your Transition Smooth – SD to HD, HD to UHD, SDR to HDR, SDI to IP on On-Premises to Cloud'.
