New OB vehicle for Carreg Ateb

Carreg Ateb, the audio facility house based in Snowdonia, have recently added another radio Outside Broadcast vehicle to serve their growing client base.
Based on the BBC C-type vehicle (comprising 20 channel Glensound mixer), it has consequently proved a popular choice with producers who prefer the familiar surroundings of the C-type. The company have ensured that the fully equipped van is as user-friendly as possible, in order to make it available as a dry-hire when necessary. This new vehicle supplements Carreg Ateb’s existing OB vehicle, which with its 30 channels of audio is more suitable for band mixing.
The company have recently installed a SADiE editing system in the new vehicle, thus providing the necessary facilities for fast-turnaround editing and CD mastering whilst on location. There is also the option of recording directly to a SCSI removable drive, enabling those on a tight budget to edit on their own SADiE without the hassle and expense of DAT transfer. Carreg Ateb’s Managing Director Dafydd Meurig commented: “Smaller production companies are usually working to tight budgets and our flexibility within this facility helps to save them time and money which leads to repeat custom for us.”
He added: “Our new vehicle has greatly increased our capacity to record radio programmes throughout Wales and further afield. Carreg Ateb are now the main provider of radio broadcast resources in Wales outside of the BBC.”
