Catherine Tate Returns To BBC1 As 'Nan'

News Image
Catherine Tate's 'Nan' is to return to BBC One, it has been announced.

Following the successful BAFTA-nominated one-off special that was broadcast on BBC One in 2014, Catherine Tate is bringing Britain's best-loved OAP back to screens for two further half-hour episodes. They will be filmed later this year for broadcast in 2016.

The new specials will be written by Catherine Tate, Brett Goldstein and Dan Swimer, and directed by Geoff Posner.

Shane Allen, Controller, Comedy Commissioning, says: "Nan is one of the most iconic comedy characters of our time and it's thrilling to welcome her back to BBC One. Catherine's performance is as close to comic perfection as you can get."

The specials were commissioned by Shane Allen, Kristian Smith, Commissioning Editor for BBC Comedy and Charlotte Moore, Controller of BBC One.

They are being made by Tiger Aspect and WAF Liberty Productions, and will be produced by Pete Thornton and executive produced by Sophie Clarke-Jervoise, Catherine Tate and Kristian Smith.
