Leader release LT 444 changeover unit

Leader's new LT 444 changeover unit safeguards broadcast signal channels by automatically switching to backup feed when it detects amplitude errors in a primary source.
Occupying a compact 1U, the LT 444 can handle up eleven channels simultaneously. These are user- configurable as up to six HD-SDI feeds plus five channels of SD-SDI, AES/EBU digital audio, analogue black burst or tri-level sync. Eleven red LEDs on the front panel provide local error warning and identify the channel affected. Other front panel controls include sync source selection (primary or backup), autoswitch enable/disable and primary/backup fault indication reset. A panel key lock is automatically enabled if no manual control operation is detected for 60 seconds.
Each of the LT 444's 11 channels is equipped with 75 ohm BNC primary and backup inputs plus an output. To prevent spurious readout in the initial period of an incoming feed, error monitoring can be delayed by 60 to 80 seconds (fast) or 240 to 320 seconds (slow) from source onset
A rear-panel 9-pin Dsub connector allows remote reset, autoswitching and sync toggle as well as carrying outputs for off-site fault and sync-source monitoring.
Paul Vos, Managing Director of elQuip, said: "Mainstream broadcasters, independent facility houses, mobile production vehicles and cable operators are all experiencing an increasing need for multichannel signal sensing and automatic changeover. The LT 444 meets that need and brings the additional benefit of very compact dimensions.
It can be operated locally or remotely, giving operators the added security of rapid manual over-ride. The LT 444 will make its European exhibition debut at IBC 2003 with first deliveries in October. Like all Leader equipment, it combines engineering excellence with a user-friendly price tag."
