Canopus unveil new editing workstation

Canopus Corporation have chosen NAB 2002 – at booth S6944 – for the US unveiling of their new editing workstation for the broadcast market, CWS-100.
CWS-100 is a high performance hybrid linear/non-linear editing system with advanced features that fit easily into the linear editor’s workflow. With frame-accurate edit control (through linear edit controllers via RS-422) and EDL input/output capabilities, CWS-100 provides a smooth transition from linear editing to non-linear editing while maintaining the functionality familiar to operators of professional broadcast and production equipment.
CWS-100 has been successfully embraced in Japan with 10 units in use at NHK, Japan’s main broadcasting company.
Designed specifically for demanding offline editing applications, such as electronic news gathering, CWS-100 breaks new ground with its integrated jog and shuttle control. This feature gives users of RS-422 edit controllers real-time, frame-accurate recording and playback capabilities directly from Canopus Rextor NLE software. The Rextor innovation is at the forefront of Canopus’s acclaimed real-time editing software that provides linear editing capabilities, such as audio jog/shuttle, three-point editing, separate audio and video control, and on-screen timecode.
Mark Evans, Managing Director of Canopus UK, said: “By combining the speed and operability of a linear editing system with the flexibility of a non-linear editing system, CWS-100 gives video professionals a transparent migration to digital editing without having to learn new controls.
"The system has been designed for news and commercial production operations to get the job done with ease, speed and the minimum of fuss.”
Based in London, Canopus UK distribute the non-linear video editing products for video professionals and enthusiasts to UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, Benelux and Africa.
