Omnibus unveils newsroom solutions at NAB

OmniBus Systems will be unveiling enhancements to its award-winning newsroom, asset management and content delivery solutions, as well as demonstrating how its Workflow and Task Management, concept at NAB 2002, booth L11423.
In the news arena, OmniBus will be showing the advanced automation, graphics and newsroom integration products developed for Time Warner Cable and which went to air in January this year.
These pioneering features include seamless integration with Pinnacle servers and editing solutions, integration and automation of Vertigo graphics control products, enhanced MOS integration and newsroom desktop plug-ins and production control - a new application for automating the production of advanced news control rooms.
Visitors to the OmniBus booth will also see the latest version of Colossus, OmniBus’ multi-channel, multi-format content delivery system.
Since its launch at last year’s show, Colossus has been installed at the BBC - where it played an integral role in the broadcaster’s pioneering interactive coverage of the Wimbledon championships.
The latest features of OmniBus’ advanced server management application, Cache Manager, will also be demonstrated. This tracks media across a large number of servers, represents graphically the amount of space available on each of the servers and shows the media flow between them.
OmniBus will also be showing its advanced Workflow and Task Management system that monitors the entire broadcast operation in a facility, allowing processes to be scheduled and modified in real-time.
As different operators tackle different parts of a process, OmniBus presents them with innovative ‘context-sensitive’ applications that feature purely the controls that are needed for each task. The Task Supervisor application keeps track of all the jobs that flow through the system at any given time and shows their status within each of the processes.
“Our theme at NAB this year is ‘see it, believe it’ because all the solutions being demonstrated this year are a reality at installations around the world,” said Greg Hoskin, Sales and Marketing Director.
“The IT world has long established the financial benefits of truly integrated solutions as opposed to a series of discrete systems talking to each other. With the level of integration it provides, OmniBus is ideally placed to offer this kind of cost saving approach in the broadcast world."
