Dangermouse team to work with UK’s young filmmaking talent

Cosgrove Hall Films, creators of cult children’s TV show ‘Dangermouse,’ are among a host of UK filmmakers helping 1000 young people make and star in more than 40 digital short films.
Almost £275,000 of Lottery funds from First Light, the UK Film Council’s filmmaking programme for seven to 18 year olds, has been awarded to 20 projects throughout the UK. Among the films to be created by the next generation of Orlando Blooms and Keira Knightleys are; an animation called ‘Man The Lifeboat’, co-ordinated by Liverpool’s Learning Lighthouse and made with the help of Cosgrove Hall; a bullying story told in the style of Harry Potter; teenage ghosts; the aftermath of biological war; urban deprivation; the surprisingly scary consequences of picking up a 50p coin, a boy’s search for a snail; a science experiment that goes badly wrong and a Western called ‘Dreaming of Clint.’
The First Light scheme gives young people the opportunity to direct, script, act, shoot, produce and edit their own films, under the guidance of professional filmmakers.
