British quartet offer one-stop shop in satellite communications

Four British companies have come together to form an alliance to provide teams of specialists in the design, procurement, manufacture, installation and testing of virtually all products and services for satellite ground stations, control rooms, national operations centres, payload control centres, and broadcast studios.
Colem Communications (CCL), Double D Electronics, Novella Satcoms and Spice Design each offer complementary technology and expertise so customers get a total service in the design of RF equipment, control, switching, control room and security systems requirements.
CCL specialises in the supply of cost effective design solutions and customer communication systems. The key product is System 2000, built on the GE/Fanuc International – (formerly Intellution) iFIX Dynamics software platform, which has set a new standards for remote control and monitoring in the communications industry.
Double D Electronics designs and manufactures a wide range of products for satellite earth stations. These include redundancy controllers, customer interfaces, RF switching systems and substations, and remote monitoring and control systems. Double D Electronics is an independent manufacturer, and its products can be purchased as system components in other manufacturers products, or they can be specified by system integrators and users.
Novella Satcoms designs and manufactures RF equipment for satellite earth stations. This includes tracking receivers, synthesised and block frequency converters, test loop translators, redundancy switches and other bespoke solutions. Novella’s products are based on highly integrated designs using widely available components to enable volume manufacturing at very competitive prices. The company will also undertake projects including system and sub-system work, either under contract or as a joint venture.
Spice Design provides professional control rooms and broadcast standard monitoring and control solutions, built to customer specifications. The total package includes the integration of cable system infrastructure into ergonomic and expandable environments by optimised design analysis of power, cooling requirements, mechanical and electrical services plus security systems from Barclay Security & Risk Management. Specialists in display wall design utilising the latest flat screen and multi-screen projector technology.
