Cables And Racks – Argosy's IBC2014

News Image
Argosy, a leading international supplier of HD broadcast cables and studio infrastructure products, will demonstrate the latest in its range of fibre management solutions and data cables, as well as a new range of equipment racks, at IBC2014 (stand 10.C51)

Leading the display at IBC2014 will be the Neutrik opticalCON advanced tactical fibre assemblies, including the opticalCON Duo, opticalCON Quad and the debut of the latest addition to the range, the opticalCON MTP® connection systems. The MTP offers a 12-channel fibre optic connection system for point-to-point multi-channel routing with a push/pull connector that helps to reduce rigging and de-rigging times in the field. Its innovative spherical shutter is easy to clean and guarantees low maintenance.
As well as being easily deployable, the MTP connection system offers a reliable, end-to-end solution with rugged outer-jackets for harsh environments making it an ideal solution for outside broadcast applications.
To support a growing trend in fibre requirements, Argosy recently installed a state of the art termination and test facility on site at its headquarters in the UK. This allows the company to offer its customer a service to assemble and repair fibre cables, to any specification for use within the broadcast domain.
"We are seeing a growing trend in the use of fibre and it now makes up a large proportion of all new infrastructure projects," said Chris Smeeton, director at Argosy.
"We are proud to be able to provide our customers with a growing range of proven fibre solutions alongside an in-house fibre cable termination service to support this requirement as demands grow."
The proliferation of active broadcast component with IP addressable ports is increasing the monitoring and control capabilities for systems engineers. To address this growth in next generation data networks, Argosy will be showcasing its range of CAT5E, CAT6 and CAT6A cables designed to support all applications including 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
Visitors to the Argosy stand will also see other fibre products in the range alongside a broad range of its HD video and audio cables, connectors, high density HD video patch panels, video and audio jackfields, cable markers, cable boots, tools, MDUs, routers, KVM switches, racks, cable drums and network and data products as well as a variety of video accessories.

Racking Up At IBC...
Argosy's new racks are already being used in real-world situations by broadcasters and services providers including Gearhouse Broadcast, who have the racks installed in broadcast facilities around the world covering live sporting events, including those at this summer's international football championships in Brazil.
"As a global market leader in television broadcast services we are always on the look out for new equipment that is both reliable and that will help save on installation time – and the new Argosy racks meet these criteria perfectly," said Kevin Moorhouse, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Gearhouse Broadcast UK. "We have had a longstanding relationship with Argosy who offer proven, high-quality products quickly and efficiently, as we need them."
The new Argosy-designed equipment rack incorporates a plethora of features to support quick and easy installation. Its new open design maximises access to cables making it easy to install. It also provides the flexibility to allow customers to incorporate additional sets of cable trays where intensive cabling is required, and to change the positioning of mounting profiles to allow quick and easy relocation to suit the customers' individual requirements.
The U designation helps partial loading of equipment without the need for measurement and the internal capacity also benefits from improved air circulation and heat dispersion, ideal for compact environments like an outside broadcast vehicle.
Visitors to IBC2014 will also see Argosy demonstrate a variety of its HD and fibre optic products including, fibre assemblies, a broad range HD video and audio cables, connectors, high density HD video patch panels, video and audio jackfields, cable markers, cable boots, tools, MDUs, routers, KVM switches, racks, cable drums and network and data products as well as a variety of video accessories.
