Phoenix give new life to 'Citizen Kane'
Phoenix have recently completed the Special Edition DVD of 'Citizen Kane' for Universal Pictures Video.
Produced by Laureate Presentations, the film, rated as the greatest movie of all time, has been fully restored and digitally remastered from the BFI’s 35mm fine grain interpositive. Using Phoenix’s Discreet Combustion system for stabilisation and partner, Arion’s, Shadow telecine and Edifis for grading and scratch removal, the film has been given a new lease of life.
The two-disc set contains a host of extras, including a 50-minute featurette edited at Phoenix. "Anatomy of a Classic", hosted by Barry Norman, delves into the making of the film as well as trying to deal with some of the myths that surround it. Film historian Ken Barnes’s commentary provides further insight into this classic and “Welles Off Screen” includes his controversial, 1938 radio broadcast of 'The War of the Worlds' and the 1945 broadcast of 'The Happy Prince'. A photo gallery, extensive cast and crew profiles, the film ‘s complete budget and trailer complete the set.
Featuring moving menus throughout that were composited in Combustion, and make the best use of the ground breaking cinematography of Greg Toland, the package is already receiving rave reviews for both the quality of the film and the special features.
