Kodak Short Film Showcase winners off to Cannes

The winning filmmakers of Kodak's annual Short Film Showcase have been invited to join Kodak on an all-expenses paid trip to the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.
The film 'Sweet', produced by Rob Mercer and directed by James Pilkington, was awarded the top prize by the audience on the night. The annual ceremony, organised in association with BAFTA, and held on April 15 at Kodak's London headquarters, presents an opportunity for showing the previously unscreened work of new and emerging talent.
There were eight films shortlisted by a judging panel, and each was introduced by the filmmakers to the gathering of motion picture and television industry professionals. The audience included broadcasters, producers, directors, laboratories, equipment manufacturers and professional bodies.
The final choice of films was pre-judged by an industry panel including; Dave Bennett, Director of Photography; Paul Richie, Producer; Anne Guidera, Kodak’s Features Manager; Marj Clayton, Sales Co-ordinator The Industry; David Martin, Chief Executive, The Production Guild of Great Britain.
The films ranged from between nine minutes to 14.5 minutes in duration and cover a wide range of subjects. The criteria for the entry was that the film ought to be put down on Kodak Film stock, be 15 minutes or less in length, be completed in the last 18 months and have a 16mm or 35 mm print available.
