PHABRIX Announces BVE London Line Up
UK-based test and measurement innovator PHABRIX limited has a number of product developments to showcase at BVE this year on stand N43. Fresh from its recent success supporting 2014's major winter sports event with 30 handheld SxE units, PHABRIX is set to impress once more at the UK's biggest broadcast show.
Guaranteed to be a show highlight is the UK debut of the TAG, a new handheld analyser/monitor with an entry point of £1,999. This entry level test and measurement instrument comes brimming with new features designed at a price to put it within the reach of every broadcast engineer's budget. Combining SDI, analogue and optical audio/video T&M in the one unit at a ground-breaking low price the TAG follows on from the success of the other PHABRIX rugged handheld instruments, the PHABRIX SxA and 3G eye and jitter PHABRIX SxE.
TAG offers a range of interfaces from composite up to SD-SDI, HD-SDI and optional 3G-SDI with additional optical support via the built in SFP cage.
With SFPs for optical being installed just about everywhere these days, the TAG will be a huge bonus for those engineers testing broadcast infrastructures, whether they be copper or fibre. Let's not forget how important the reference is in broadcast. The TAG has a built in reference generator allowing both a reference output and multi-format audio/video output. The generator can be locked to an external reference, an internal reference or the composite or SDI inputs.
Optical analysis complete with the manufacturers display can be seen when any SFP is inserted into the SFP cage. As developments in SFP technology advance, the TAG remains future-proofed.
One key innovation the PHABRIX developers have added is the ability to remove the entire optical cage for easy replacement under constant use - no return to manufacturer replacement for this advanced instrument.
The TAG can be upgraded at any time to include a superior generator with over 38 patterns, including moving zone plate and bouncing box – you can even upload custom designed patterns. The full range of Sx software options are also available for the TAG, making the new Dolby E, D and Dolby metadata analysis and generation feature set fantastic value when added to the TAG base price.
Another big talking point will be newly launched enhancements for the PHABRIX Rx rack mount range in V9 software. PHABRIX's rack mount range comprising of the dual integral screen 2U Rx 2000, the 1U Rx 1000 and the demi Rx 500 are each configured with modules offering a broadcaster or SI a choice in sophisticated monitoring capability. With 1920 x 1080 output via HDMI or SDI, the Rx range offers a multi-viewer type display of 16 instruments per channel. The maximum number of channels being eight for the Rx2000 and Rx1000 – four of these channels available on-screen simultaneously – perfect for OB.
The additional features available in V9 include high resolution waveforms and video gamut display. An essential tool for all engineers, high resolution waveforms provide greater confidence in the quality of transmissions and enable technicians to view noise and detail with more precision. With 1920 x 1080 display, PHABRIX's new waveforms are set to be the standard in quality display. The new video gamut display makes sure the video signal is within the legal parameters of the colour space, providing an on screen indication of where the image is affected.
Improvements to the Rx rack mount range also include multi-channel closed caption display – 608/708 and OP47. Very few devices are able to decode OP47, making the PHABRIX Rx range a stand out product.
Not only that, but first-rate audio capabilities are also provided through a single box solution for audio/video monitoring with new lissajous, loudness and Dolby E, D and D Plus support. Full Dolby decode is also available with the provision of a new audio module. Loudness logging provides one channel as standard, with three more optional for metering and monitoring. The log can be exported via a CSV file for easily accessible off-line analysis.
Paul Nicholls, sales and marketing director commented: "The industry reaction to the TAG has been astounding – in fact we have pre orders reaching out to the end of March. The rack mount Rx we're sure will certainly turn heads at BVE so I hope customers both old and new will take a moment to come and see us on our stand N43."
