Galway Film Fair attracts movie financiers
Attracting support from the MEDIA Programme, the Galway Film Fair will co-ordinate pre-scheduled meetings between film-makers with projects in development and invited international film financiers, distributors and major producers from July 11th to 13th.
Financiers who have confirmed their presence at this year's event include: San Fu Maltha - A Films, Stephen Mallman - Hanway Films /Recorded Picture Company, Adrian Ward - Lewis Horwitz Organization, Michael Ryan - IAC, Ashley Luke - Fortissimo Film Sales, Nick Manzi - Redbus, Doris Heinze - NDR, Brock Norman Brock - UK Film Council, Boel Johnson - Swedish Film Institute, Scott Meek - Deep Indigo Productions, Sofia Sondervan - Content Film , Eva Hubert - Hamburg Film Fund, Mario Fischer - Mittledeutsche Medienförderung (MDM), Stephen Kelliher - Beyond Films, Thomas Spieker - 42nd Street , Carola Ash - Future Films, Ida Martins - Media Luna, Simon Perry - Ingenious Films and Bill Stephens - Nexus.

Elsewhere the Euromed Audiovisual Programme - MEDEA - will launch a new call for proposals this month for documentary and fiction projects. The Call will be available on www.programamedea.com.
The programme encourages partnerships between EU countries and non-EU Mediterranean countries, and the next Euro-Mediterranean workshop for documentary development for will take place in Toulouse from July 1st to 5th 2003.
The Deadline for MEDIA Development support and for support for TV Broadcasting is June 16th. While there will be another TV Broadcasting deadline on November 3rd it is unlikely that new development guidelines will be published until late November/December. Also development support is available for fiction, documentary, animation and multimedia projects, which is non-repayable if re-invested in a subsequent project.
Support is also available for slates of projects in the form of a rolling credit line to a maximum of euro 125,000. Applications can be made anytime until the call concludes on 16th June 2003.
Production companies can apply for support for one project only under this scheme and only once in a 12 month period and up to euro 50,000 can be awarded for single projects, though animation features are an exception and can receive up to euro 80,000.
For Slate Funding 1, production companies can apply for euro 60,000 - euro 90,000 for the development of a minimum of three projects and for Slate Funding 2, production companies can apply for euro 100,000 - euro 125,000 for the development of a minimum of five projects.
