WRC sees NTL satellite driving Chrysalis coverage

For the third year running NTL Broadcast are to provide broadcaster Chrysalis Television with satellite services for coverage of the 2003 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
To cover all of the WRC’s events, which take place in 14 countries across three continents in conditions as diverse as the ice and snow of Sweden to the outback of Australia, NTL’s package of services includes uplink equipment, satellite space and specialist personnel. NTL will run dual path transmissions to distribute the coverage around the world for the duration of the 11-month season, providing an average of 40 world feeds per event to Europe, Asia and the Americas.
For the first time NTL is providing Chrysalis with a Ku-band ‘flyaway’ dish (a mini transportable earth station), which will stay with the Chrysalis equipment as the production team moves from event to event. This allows the team to integrate the flyaway dish into its kit, as well as access a permanent satellite uplinking facility.
