Condor launch new Cape Town facility

For the past few years the international film industry has had its eye on Cape Town as an exciting new growth area for film and commercial production.
Services from production co-ordination and design, to equipment hire, talent and art department services have enjoyed an economic boost from production companies wishing to escape the financial downturn in the European market.
However, with the majority of productions still being completed in Europe, post-production is one area that appears to be lagging behind in this newfound enthusiasm for the South African shoot.
This, however, is starting to be re-addressed with the launch of Condor Cape Town - offering a world-class post-production service for both local and international commercials.
A joint venture between Condor Europe, Sasani Limited and Mike Smit, Condor Cape Town will open its doors this summer, offering the high-end, superior quality telecine, compositing, visual fx and other related services associated with the Condor brand that has been established in Europe for the past twenty years.
Rob Meddens of Condor says of the new facility: "Cape Town was the obvious choice in looking to extend the Condor network. Many of our established and potential European clients regularly make use of Cape Town as a location for their shoots. It makes good business sense for Condor to offer them the same quality post-production facility as they use in Europe right here in Cape Town. The city is recognised as an attraction to the international film industry - the time zones suit Europe, the vibe is congruent and the culture of Cape Town is highly appealing. People working in the film industry want to be here."
Following the same ethos as the other four international Condor facilities – Brussels, Berlin, Amsterdam and London – Condor Cape Town will be a boutique-style business offering a swift, select and sophisticated service. It will also have access to the unique Condor network utilising the latest global technology, to allow for remote collaboration on projects. Condor Cape Town’s close working relationship with Condor London will also help to provide post-production services to clients all over the world at internationally-competitive prices.
