Spielberg titles win D&AD award

At the recent 2003 D&AD Awards the title sequence for Steven Spielberg’s 'Catch Me if You Can' (Dreamworks), was named as the winner of the TV & Cinema Graphics award.
The titles also scooped the first ever People's Pencil Award voted for exclusively by D&AD Members.
The atmospheric, animated titles for Catch Me If You Can were directed by Kuntzel and Deygas through Nexus Productions, and produced by Charlotte Bavasso and Chris O'Reilly. The project was composited using Discreet combustion. John Williams scored the 155-second sequence. Billed as "The true story of a real fake”, the movie stars Tom Hanks and Leonardo Di Caprio and is based on the story of Frank Abagnale Jr., a con artist who successfully impersonated an airline pilot, doctor, assistant attorney general and history professor, cashing more than $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in 26 countries in the early 1960s.
D&AD is an educational charity working on behalf of the design and advertising communities. Its purpose is to set creative standards, educate and inspire the next creative generation, and promote the importance of good design and advertising to the business arena.
