Sony's Michael Barker To Deliver Film London Address

Michael Barker, Co-president and Co-founder of Sony Pictures Classics, will deliver this year's keynote address at the Film London Production Finance Market (PFM).
Opening the seventh PFM in London on 16 October, Mr Barker will speak to the 200 plus delegates and industry guests on producing and distributing independent feature films, particularly assessing the role of Sony Pictures Classics.
Taking place over two days (16-17 October) in association with the 57th BFI London Film Festival, this year's PFM will see 52 producers and 57 financiers from the international marketplace conducting over 800 meetings.
Mr Barker will also be part of a Senior Financiers Panel alongside Doug Hansen (Endgame Entertainment) and Ben Browning (Start Motion Pictures) who will discuss how the emerging online market is changing the shape of film finance.
Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission said: "We are extremely honoured to welcome Michael as our keynote speaker. Admired throughout the international film industry he will provide a keen insight into the world of independent film production and distribution. His expertise in successfully selling films to international audiences, as well as underpinning multi territory finance will ensure a fantastic start to this year's Market.
"In addition to Michael, I would also like to thank our funders, the Mayor of London, MEDIA and the BFI. I am also delighted to be extending the PFM into the micro and low budget arena with Micro-Market – the emerging talent involved will also benefit greatly from Michael's role at the PFM."
The Film London Micro-Market is a UK-wide micro-budget finance market that will run alongside the PFM. It will provide 19 film-making teams a day of dedicated meetings with financiers looking to source projects budgeted at €1m and under, alongside comprehensive training in pitching.
Mr Barker will also participate in a Master Class for the emerging film-makers attending the Market.
Angus Finney, PFM Project Manager, noted the quality of the many of the projects this year: "We were extremely impressed by the level of film-makers keen to exploit the PFM, including Back2Back's outstanding Kevin Macdonald title, Deep Purple's Jakarta Nightmare; Spain's The Thinklab-produced animation film, Deep and VVZ's The World At Night, to be directed by Michael Radford."
The Film London Production Finance Market 2013 is supported by the Mayor of London, MEDIA and the BFI.
