BBC Parliament goes round the clock

BBC Parliament completes their transition to being a 24x7 channel on Saturday June 7, with a new overnight schedule running from midnight to 6.00am.
The extra time will be used to bring programmes such as 'The Record' - the review of the day in Parliament - and 'Politique', an in depth look at the politics of Europe, to a wider audience.
The overnight schedule provides space for some of the previous days' select committees, which would otherwise wait until the evening committee slots at the weekend.
This caters for a growing interest in this aspect of the work of MPs.
The early morning slots will also give another chance to see questions in the Lords - the highlight of the day in the Upper House.
One of the first overnight highlights will be a repeat of Chancellor Gordon Brown's statement on the five tests for joining the Euro, which will be made in the Commons on Monday June 9.
The channel now broadcasts round the clock, throughout the year, showing Committees, review and archive programmes when Parliaments and Assemblies are in recess.
This development marks a doubling in the hours of the channel since 2000.
BBC Parliament now shows special events such as the Coronation and complete select committee hearings during the Parliamentary recess.
