Creative Apprenticeships Have 'Positive Impact'

News Image
Creative Skillset has welcomed research published by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), that highlights the positive impact apprenticeships are having on businesses, employers and individuals.
The research shows eight out of 10 (83%) apprentices said their apprenticeship improved their ability to do their job and boosted their career prospects.
While seven out of 10 (72%) employers felt that apprenticeships had a positive impact on their business.
Figures also indicate businesses are committed to investing in new talent, with 73% of apprentices being retained as staff following completion of their apprenticeship.
Creative Skillset says its own experience reflects the positive trend in recruitment, putting forward the example of apprentice Patsy Hayward, 20, from Rochester, who will continue her time at Creative Skillset as Communications Administrator having successfully completed her apprenticeship programme.
Dinah Caine CBE, Creative Skillset CEO said: "The figures released today by BIS are hugely positive. Apprenticeships are a great way for employers to nurture young talent and inject new skills into their business. The BIS findings and our own experience certainly support that view. Having Patsy, our very own apprentice on board, has been just fantastic. Patsy has provided invaluable support to the communications team whilst learning new skills and developing in her role along the way."
Ms Hayward said: "I have learnt so much during my apprenticeship. The whole experience has been really positive and rewarding. I am very excited to be staying on at Creative Skillset and I look forward to developing my career."
The apprenticeship saw Patsy become Creative Skillset's Chief Executive at the launch of the new Creative Skillset Higher Level Apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week earlier this year, swapping jobs with Dinah Caine CBE.
