RTÉ call for Audience Council members

RTÉ have announced details of how members of the Irish public may apply to become members of the Audience Council, which will act as an advisory group to the RTÉ
Authority.
The RTÉ Audience Council will comprise 22 members: 11 representative members, with a specialist interest in one or more of the key strands of programming; 10 individual members who have a general interest in broadcasting, and one ex officio member. The Chairperson of the Authority’s Programme Sub-Committee, Garry Hynes, will be the ex-officio ordinary member. The Audience Council will have a life span of four years, and will elect a Chairperson annually from among its members.
The RTÉ Authority, with appropriate external advice and support, is seeking applications from members of the public who would like to be appointed as one of the ten individual members. Two of these members will be from each of Ireland’s EU constituency areas, and two from Northern Ireland.
Advertisements, on RTÉ Radio and Television and in the RTÉ Guide from the week beginning Monday 26 May, will give details of an information line for those who wish to be considered for appointment to the Audience Council.
An information sheet and application form will be mailed out, and interested parties should return the completed application form by Thursday 12 June.
The names of the 22 members of the RTÉ Audience Council will be announced at the end of June.
