BSkyB choose Pro-Bel router for Millbank

BSkyB have installed a Pro-Bel Sirius routing switcher and a variety of control panels at the heart of the Westminster News Studio, enabling all political coverage to benefit from digital quality.
The Sirius router, configured 96x96 in a 128x128 frame, together with numerous control panels, was installed at the end of March, with the first programme due to go out in May. Crucial to the smooth running of the studio, Sirius was chosen because of its vale for money and space effective architecture, allowing expansion via simple plug in modules.
The Millbank studio, used primarily for political coverage and newsgathering, is located close to the Houses of Parliament, London. The facility includes three edit suites, a lines recording area, an interview studio and a four camera studio.
Adrian Smith, projects engineer at BSkyB, said: "Pro-Bel looks to have some interesting products coming up in the pipeline which we will look at in the future.
"Sirius is a compact, cost effective, flexible and modular solution to most routing issues, with capabilities to deal with any signal source required."
