New Carpathian Tourist Series Confirmed

News Image
The Travel Channel is to work with the Romanian Tourist Board on a new mini-series, Wild Carpathia, which will be centred on the dramatic Carpathian Mountains.
The idea has been inspired by an original concept developed by The European Nature Trust - a charity dedicated to the preservation of Europe’s last remaining wilderness.
After a successful first episode, the Romanian Tourist Board have partnered with Travel Channel to create two more episodes of the series.
The new episodes, to be produced by Almond Films, will continue to explore the forests and medieval landscapes of Carpathia, along with the local people and personalities who are working to preserve the region.
The series has been backed by the Romanian Minister of Tourism, Maria Grapini. Ms Grapini has worked closely with Scripps Networks Interactive, which owns the Travel Channel, to ensure that episodes two and three of Wild Carpathia came to broadcast.
Maria Grapini, Delegate Minister for Tourism, Business and SMEs, said: "I am glad that we could sign such an important contract for promoting Romania worldwide. It's very satisfying that through my mandate as a Delegate Minister for Tourism, Business and SMEs, within the Romanian Government, I am able to take this ahead, particularly as it has been waiting for years to be signed. I am hugely optimistic about the impact of this project for Romania's promotion, made with professionalism by the Travel Channel and Almond Films team. After watching the first episode of Wild Carpathia documentary, I felt proud that I am Romanian. I also want to take this opportunity to thank in person HRH, Prince of Wales, for helping to promote the beauty and importance of our countryside."
The two sequels will also be shown in over 130 countries and translated into 21 different languages as well as being aired on National Television in Romania. The collaboration will see a comprehensive promotional campaign including 24 promotional films featuring stunning locations across the country. The eight three-minute films and 16 one-minute films will focus on a range of subjects including wildlife, adventure, wellness and tourism.
Nick Thorogood, SVP Content and Marketing, Scripps EMEA said: "We are thrilled to be partnering with the Romanian Tourism Authority and to be bringing this exciting documentary project about this visually stunning region to a global audience."
Presenter Charlie Ottley added: "I am hugely grateful to the Romanian government for making this possible. It will give us a chance to further show why Romania is a jewel in the crown of Europe and needs to be celebrated for its amazing beauty."
A launch event organised and funded by The European Nature Trust will be held in Bucharest for the second episode on 29 May, with a UK launch to be held at BAFTA in London on 5 June.
