Romanian Radio Covers Nato Summit With Studer On-Air Desks

The Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation has, over the last ten years, been one of the biggest customers for Studer's series of OnAir digital audio mixing consoles. Recently they have purchased two of the latest models, the OnAir 3000, initially for use on the NATO Summit, which was held in Bucharest.
The gathering of the NATO community leaders in Bucharest was a hugely prestigious event for host country Romania, which is one of the newest members of the Organisation. The Summit ran concurrently with the Bucharest Conference, a high-level gathering of decision-makers, opinion-shapers and academics, which acts as the public platform of the Summit.
To handle the broadcast press requirements of these assemblies, Radio Romania established an on-site radio station at the massive Palace of the Parliament, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon.
Two studios were specially built to manager the recording and transmission of interviews and live coverage of proceedings. Purchased for the event, two Studer OnAir 3000 digital audio mixing consoles were installed in the temporary radio stations, with relatively modest 9-fader configurations, but having the capacity for expansion when relocated to Radio Romania's main broadcast facility after the Summit.
On-site training was provided by Studer prior to the Summit, both for the OnAir 3000s and also the Studer Router and Surveillance system, which was, installed in the large master control room. Under the direction of Radio Romania's Lucian Oros, operational status during the event was smooth, professional and bang on budget!
During the Corporation's long association with Studer, the network has taken on a substantial number of OnAir desks in several different configurations. This is Radio Romania's first investment in Studer's most modern technology, and, following the successful conclusion of the Summit, the two OnAir 3000s have now been permanently integrated into the station's broadcasting infrastructure.
