Industry advances to be revealed at Mediacast 2002
Mediacast 2002, a showcase for the converged media, telecoms and IT industries will bring together international operators, content developers and technology companies this week at ExCeL, Docklands, London, on May 21-22 between 10 and 5pm and May 23 between 10 and 4pm.
Among the high points will be Pace Micro Technology's unveiling of the market's first digital home gateway set-top box technology on Tuesday May 21. CEO for Pace Micro Technology, Malcolm Miller will follow the launch with a discussion entitled 'What next for digital television?' on Tuesday May 21.
The debate on the competing virtues of PC and TV in digital home entertainment will also be explored by Pace Micro Technology at their stand which will be packed with innovations including their new home gateway.
Other speeches of note include: Jean Marc Racine – Executive Vice President Marketing for Canal+ Technologies – who will explore 'MHP: Beyond interoperability' in his speech on Tuesday 21 May; Nick Fielibert, CTO for Europe and Asia for Scientific-Atlanta will explain 'How to build a winning business model for digital television' in his seminar on Wednesday 22nd May; Thomas Kressner, Chairman and CEO for Yes TV gives his vision on 'Launching a new interactive service – who can help deliver the service and profit you need?' on Wednesday 22nd May; Volker Steiner, Commercial Director for Eutelsat, asks 'Will the convergence of internet and digital TV be the new technology to turn-on today's generation?' on Wednesday 22nd May; Steve Canepa, Vice President, Marketing & Strategy for IBM, will look at 'Online E-commerce gateway: What can we expect the future to hold in new television services?' on Wednesday 22nd May.
Also, as low-cost digital adapters could be the last hope for the UK government to replace analogue with free-to-air digital terrestrial TV, several companies will be releasing their latest products including Pace, Vestel and Eldon.
