Film London appoint Wootton as first chief executive

Adrian Wootton will be the first chief executive of Film London, the new body charged with representing and developing the film and media industry in the UK's capitol.
He is currently the acting director of the British Film Institute, and before that was director of the London Film Festival (LFF), the National Film Theatre (NFT) and head of bfi Exhibition.
Adrian Wootton said: "I am very pleased and proud to have accepted the invitation to become the first chief executive of Film London. It is an honour to have been chosen to lead this new strategic body for film in the capital and to have the opportunity to work with the chair, Sandy Lieberson and the new board.
"Film London will be an organisation about partnership, adding value to and co-ordinating film activities in London. I look forward to taking forward the strategies of Film London, supported by the Film Council, the London Development Agency, the GLA and SkillSet. I also look forward to working with all the other regional screen agencies."
Film London's activities will cover four main areas: encouraging and supporting filming in London; promoting access for all to watch, participate and enjoy moving image culture through exhibition and education; developing the industry, through support for production, training and economic initiatives; and, researching and making the case for the film and media sector in London.
Welcoming the appointment Sandy Lieberson said: "Adrian's appointment as chief executive will result in establishing Film London as a dynamic organisation which will take the lead in making London the most film friendly city in Europe. He will spearhead our objective to bring a fresh approach in making film culture available to all of Greater London."
