Celco enhances Fury digital film recorder
Digital film recording systems company Celco has announced enhancements to its Fury digital film recorder.
In the Fury's latest version, Celco incorporates their new XCRT Advanced Imaging Technology to enhance image quality, resulting in unparalleled sharpness that exceeds laser resolution on HD and 2K images. In addition, speed has been increased for Kodak's 2242/5242 intermediate stock.
The Fury outputs a high-resolution frame of film in one second. Facilities are able to output approximately 60 minutes of high-resolution digital film per day. The Fury's one-second speed includes high definition images onto Kodak 5245 camera negative stock, and less than 2 seconds per frame for a full Cineon density range 2K image onto Kodak intermediate 2242 film stock. The system is also capable of very high-speed output of any resolution up to 4K or higher for larger format purposes such as 70mm. The Fury can output any type of film stock, including colour and black and white intermediate and camera negative stocks.
In addition, the new system can also output to multiple film formats including 16mm, 35mm, and 65mm 5, 8, 10, and 15-perf (IMAX format).
Since being launched worldwide at IBC 2002, Celco's Fury has been installed at leading facilities such as Fotokem, Post Logic, and Capital FX in London.
Celco Marketing Director John Constantine said: "Never before has a film recorder been capable of achieving images of the highest quality at such an incredible speed. Quite frankly, there was scepticism in the industry on whether it could really be done, as laser recorders were considered the benchmark to be beaten. But the Fury proves it is indeed possible.
"Post-production facilities have run rigorous benchmark tests, and the Fury has passed them all with flying colours. Celco's new XCRT Advanced Imaging Technology has now been proven to be the new benchmark, which is why there is a growing list of facilities around the world that have decided to install the Fury."
Celco are currently exhibiting at NAB at booth C387.
