Provys TVoffice Drives Workflow At Chello Zone

Provys TVoffice channel management system has enabled UK-based content provider Chello Zone to expand its automation and control as its operations and requirements have grown.
Chello Zone has used Provys since 2002: initially as a one-channel operation. Ever since its capabilities have grown with the broadcaster to now include licence management and transmission schedule preparation for 23 international feeds.
The TVoffice operation now involves the management of all purchased rights, both linear and non-linear, across all European territories and platforms. This is followed by the preparation of programme plans for the channels and management of the commercial content sold by local sales-houses around Europe; then finalising transmission schedules for playout via five outsourced playout centres worldwide.
The scope of Provys TVoffice at Chello Zone has recently expanded to cover operations workflow management. Andreea Buga, Vice President Operations at Chello Zone, explained: "Our challenge was to figure out the most effective way to deal with yearly volumes of 8,000 new hours of programmes; some coming from the large studios, some from small producers sending USB sticks - some going to a single territory and others on multiple feeds." She continued: "We had programmes licensed across multiple feeds that were scheduled within months of each other. We needed to find a way to process each title only once by creating the relevant audio and language components needed for all the feeds it was licensed for. We needed to have a solution which would fit all channels, standardising the workflows, which would make it possible to cross-train, cross-cover and manage it all in a clever and automated way. We wanted less Drama and more Action!"
Currently, around 250 new tasks are created in the Provys workflow system every day. Their automatic creation is based on scheduled programmes and available licences, followed by their assignment to internal or external teams. Eventually the description of the resulting media is added in Provys Media Library, where the information immediately becomes available to transmission schedulers. New facilities are now being added including the management of transcoding, compliance reviewing and editing.
