Three new commissions for BWPL

Northern Ireland based independent film and television production company Brian Waddell Productions Limited (BWPL) have announced a raft of three new commissions - a post-programme documentary 'Life After Baywatch', and two travel shows 'Chasing Time In...' and 'Ulster Fly'.
Stimulated by the revival of the 'Baywatch' brand through the new Fox TV movie 'Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding' , which includes most of the original stars, 'Life After Baywatch' is a ground-breaking hour-long documentary for five, following the fortunes of the cast of the 1990s television phenomenon.
In its heyday, Baywatch was the most watched television show on the planet. Producer Jon-Barrie Waddell and director David Cumming travelled to Los Angeles to conduct individual, one-to-one interviews with some of its biggest stars - Pamela Anderson, David Hasselhoff, Carmen Electra, Alexandra Paul, Jeremy Jackson, Gene Lee Nolin and Jaason Simmons. There is also an interview with Hugh Hefner, whose Playboy magazine frequently ran revealing photo-spreads of the show's sun-kissed babes.
With sometimes disarming honesty, the stars talk about the trials and tribulations of life during Baywatch and of the nightmare off-screen experiences that have dogged their lives since they severed the link. Anderson talks of her crazy marriage with Tommy Lee, Hasselhoff reflects on his battle with addiction and Alexandra Paul laughs at the memory of being the 'flat-chested, sensible one'.
It will be screened on five in late spring 2003 and was commissioned by Chris Shaw, five's senior programme controller, news and current affairs.
Life After Baywatch is being distributed internationally by Fremantle Media and will be available at MIP TV 2003 at Cannes.
Also, National Geographic Channel International have commissioned a second series of 'Chasing Time In ...' the global travel-adventure show, which has been a major international success for the channel. Presenter Trey Farley, who was a huge hit with audiences, particularly in the Far East, returns to follow the exploits of the hopeful couples trying to win a luxury break in their city destinations. This time around, the series itinerary includes Singapore, Marrakech, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, New York, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Dubrovnik, Budapest and Lisbon.
It begins screening on the NGC worldwide network from autumn 2003. Directors are Jon-Barrie Waddell and David Starkey, the series producer is Jon-Barrie Waddell and the series editor is David Cumming.
Finally, BBC Northern Ireland have commissioned 'Ulster Fly', a new, 10-programme travel series focusing on direct-fly holidays from Ireland. Destinations include Mallorca, Cyprus, Crete, Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands.
Scheduled for transmission in autumn 2003, the executive producer is Brian Waddell and the producer is Sarah Reddin.
