Sony To Shed 10,000 Staff

News Image
Electronics firm, Sony, are set to cut 10,000 staff in a major re-organisation bid.
According to the BBC Sony's Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai said that the cuts would affect 6% of the firms global workforce and come into effect over the next year.
This news comes as Sony struggles to compete in the television industry with Samsung and LG and with Apple in the audio industry.
It is understood that the majority of the cuts will come from the businesses that Sony are selling, for example its chemical division.
Mr Hirai told the Beeb that it hopes the changes will help to generate sales of $10.5bn by the financial year ending in March 2015, with a profit margin of 5%.
