In a multi-million pound deal the Vitec Group has shook hands and acquired U.K.-based Camera Corps, the maker of the Q-Ball.
The TV camera company, whose specialist equipment is used at everything from top sporting events to reality show Big Brother, is celebrating the sale rumoured to come in at £8m.
It is understood that the photography and broadcasting firm Vitec Group was keen to buy before the 2012 Olympics.
Based at Byfleet, in London, Camera Corps has achieved a pre-eminent reputation for its ability to acquire exciting and unusual television content from exceptionally challenging environments.
Its extensive range of speciality equipment includes high-level cranes, HD and SD motorised tracking cameras, underwater cameras, bullseye-mounted archery target cameras and fire-proofed high-temperature cameras.
The acquisition will complement the existing range of Vitec Videocom products, its high-quality equipment includes lighting, power, tripods, robotic cameras and prompting solutions for the broadcast, media and entertainment markets.
Vitec Chief Executive Stephen Bird said: "There is a growing appetite among consumers for more unusual and interesting camera angles and Camera Corps is a world leader in helping broadcasters capture these moments."
According to Companies House, Laurie Frost is the sole shareholder in Camera Corps, and he along with senior management will stay on after the sale.
"We are proud to join the Vitec Group at such a monumental time in the industry," said Frost. "We share the common goal of creating solutions for our customers that deliver truly compelling images and adhere to the highest technical and service standards."
