TV Losses Top Spot With UK Consumers

TV has lost the UK top spot for the first time after consumers named their laptop as their 'favourite piece of technology'.
This marks the first time that television has not held the lead in this area.
According to research carried out by Deloitte 28% of those polled gave laptops the top status ahead of TV, which received 22%. Desktop PCs hit 19% just beating the 10% attributed to smartphones.
Meanwhile the research also revealed that the UK has more devices through which media can be consumed than anywhere else in Europe.
Deloitte reports that overall, the average Briton owned 9.7 devices through which media could be consumed – from DVRs to games consoles – in 2011, up from 8.7 in 2010. This is 20% ahead of that in France for example and 14% higher than in Germany.
Deloitte claim that this is an indication that the UK is the 'clear leader' in adopting new media technologies.
