TPS 'A Vital Part Of BVE'

The Production Show may originally have been seen as a ‘bolt on extra’ of the Broadcast and Video Expo but increasingly its becoming a vital part of the event in its own right.
Reviewing the latest kit offerings and interacting with the manufacturers is important but for many users, the way they access this kit will be through OB, production and kit hire companies. The production show offers a unique opportunity to see the different approach to these services and find out what is available.
One newcomer to the production show this year was flypack hire and outside broadcast company Vivid Broadcast. 2012 is set to be a bumper year for OB’s and yet many producers are faced with tightening of budgets whilst still having to deliver the same results. Flypacks can offer a cost effective way of covering an event, whilst delivering the same standard of engineering and kit expected in an OB unit.
Vivid Director, Rory Springthorpe commented: "We’ve seen a real rise in the use of flypacks across a range of sectors –from sport reinforcement to music, current affairs to studio and entertainment. With the increase of broadcast over IP, flypacks can offer a real alternative to conventional ways of approaching a live.
"Our approach has been to ensure the same engineering and kit standards you’d expect in a scanner whilst also looking carefully at the working environment. It’s all very well being mobile but when a director sits down, the operating space makes a real difference. We’ve also recently added Sony HDC 1500’s to add to our fleet, seeking to make HD production as cost effective as possible.
"2012 was the first time we exhibited at TPS and the response we had a fantastic with interest from a wide range of broadcasters, independent productions and companies looking for studio, multi camera and OB services. We’ve already booked a stand for 2013 and see TPS as a key opportunity to catch up with our existing clients and enjoy meeting new people face to face."
