DITG and Getmedia to provide mobile services for Avago

The Digital Interactive Television Group (DITG) have formed a partnership with mobile entertainment specialist Getmedia to provide mobile services for interactive TV.
To be launched on the Avago entertainment channel in February 2003, these will then be offered by DITG to other broadcasters as an integrated part of their existing range of interactive TV solutions.
Avago’s new mobile services will enable viewers to use the television to browse and buy the latest ringtones, with those selected downloaded direct to their mobile. DITG will develop and integrate Avago’s mobile services into the channel format, and use ringtones provided by Getmedia. The offering will be expanded to include other Getmedia products, including polyphonic ringtones, moving icons and celebrity voicemail messages.
New commercial director of DITG, Mel Alcock, who was previously a commercial head within SkyActive, said: “The revenue generating potential of marketing mobile products via interactive TV is huge, in one year alone over 472,000 mobile products were sold via SkyActive’s mobile content offering. Mobile services also give viewers the opportunity to interact on an entirely new level and Getmedia’s innovative offering will be integral to the development of Avago and other channels.”
