Teens Miss Internet More Than TV

New research has revealed that teenagers would miss their mobile phones and the Internet more than TV- In turn adding weight to claims that these trends could be behind the boom of Internet enabled devices.
According to new research by Ofcom 28% of 12-15 year olds said they would miss their mobile and the internet (25%) more than TV (18%).
This said they are also watching more TV than ever before, with viewing figures increasing by two hours since 2007.
In 2010 children aged 4-15 watched an average of 17 hours and 34 minutes of TV per week, compared with 15 hours and 37 minutes in 2007.
Meanwhile nearly one third of children aged 5-15 who use the internet at home are watching TV via an online catch-up service on their PC/laptop, such as the BBC iPlayer or ITV Player.
Ofcom’s research also reveals that 95% 2-15 year olds now have internet access at home through a PC or laptop, up from 89% in 2010 and 77% in 2007.
This news comes at a time when viewing figures for online content and VOD services are soaring. In January last year there was impressive 45% rise from the previous year. The figures show that online tv adoption is on the rise and so are the devices used to watch the streaming.
