Sachtler Receives TV Technology STAR 2007 Award For SOOM At IBC

Sachtler’s revolutionary new camera support tool SOOM received praise and applause from all concerned at the recently-held IBC in Amsterdam. This was reinforced on the last day of the congress with its crowning as TV Technology STAR 2007. “This award is a credit to our team, which has been developing the SOOM system with great engagement and creativity for the last two years,” commented Darina Enz, who is responsible for marketing at Sachtler and received the prize on the company’s behalf. It was clear from day one of the congress that the efforts of the development team had paid off: SOOM was besieged at the daily Sachtler stand shows, with camera operators queueing to test the tool.
“We have struck exactly the right chord with camera operators. The SOOM HiPod system offers unlimited possibilities to MiniDV and (H)DV users in particular,” added Darina Enz. The crowds at the congress watched in amazement each time Mike Steffl, cameraman at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, demonstrated the SOOM system’s potential for day-to-day production: a 75 mm tripod with mid-level spreader intelligently combines with a monopod called the SOOM Tube to create the SOOM HiPod system. The mid-level spreader – the SOOM TriSpread – is itself transformed into a baby tripod with just a few simple moves. Thus the new slogan: '1+1+1=4' – Intelligently combining the TriPod, TriSpread and Tube creates the SOOM HiPod system, making four products from three. “Modularity, flexibility and compatibility is not a catchphrase – it’s reality! We have succeeded in reinventing camera support on a higher plane than ever before,” said Robert Zierer, Product Manager at Sachtler. The SOOM system is lightweight, easy to transport and available at a highly attractive price.
