RTW Rescues Moving Coil PPMs

Cologne based audio meter manufacturer RTW, has introduced a classic moving coil display that emulates broadcast PPM and VU meters as part of its new TouchMonitor version 2.
Further enhancements in this revision include an easy-to-read, graphical Loudness Range (LRA) measurement tool for its flagship metering units to meet EBU R128 recommendations. Loudness Range measures the variation of loudness in Loudness Units (LU) giving a clear indication of a programme’s dynamic range. RTW also offers a True Peak Level meter, another requirement of EBU R128. An additional feature is a customisable keypad that can be used, for example, for global start, stop and reset messages.
For RTW’s 31900, 31960 and 1190 customers, LRA and True Peak are available with a hardware and software upgrade. New purchasers will appreciate the facelift given to the 31900 and 31960 surround monitoring and metering units, and the 11900 surround meter. The fresh new front panels bring them in line with the elegance of the TouchMonitor series.
In addition, RTW has launched two new rack-mount units in its TouchMonitor range, the 20700-3U and 20700-VID. The 20700-3U is designed for standard 19” racks where two units can sit side by side or the 20700-VID is intended for half-width video racks such as those used for video waveform monitors.
