Link release new encoder units

Link Research Ltd has added two new encoders to their L1000 range: the L1009 and the L1008.
The L1009 is the first professional MPEG2 encoder to be offered at less than £10,000. The L1008, is a full DSNG encoder/modulator at under £11,500. Link has also reduced the prices for its top range models by 25%.
When Link introduced the L1000 range of encoders in September 2001, they were the first encoder/modulators to break away from using dedicated MPEG2 chipsets. This meant that they were extremely flexible, giving superior performance and value for money.
Now, the L1009 at £9,990 is a full MPEG2 encoder with composite video input, stereo sound and two ASI outputs. It is housed in a half-width 1U chassis and weighs 1.3kg. It dissipates just 20 watts of power. EBS conditional access is supplied as standard and a full-width 1U chassis or DC power supply version are available for the same price.
The L1008, priced at £11,490, has all the features of the L1009 plus a DVB-S QPSK modulator. Its small size and low power requirement make it ideal for Outside Broadcast, sports and DSNG applications.
A full range of upgrades is available for both units. This includes 4:2:2, Low Delay, SDI input, 2nd audio pair, QPSK, 8PSK, 16QAM, and COFDM modulation.
