Cloud Atlas Rolls Into Glasgow

Another major production will begin filming in Scotland this week when Glasgow hosts Cloud Atlas.
It will be on location for a few days later this month, just as the production of World War Z leaves.
The decision to bring Cloud Atlas to the city was taken after the production met with Glasgow City Council's Glasgow Film Office (GFO).
As is the case with all film and broadcast productions in the city, the GFO has been working with the production recently to help secure locations in the city and to ensure that arrangements are in place with council departments.
Cloud Atlas will film in Glasgow between 16 - 18 September and on 26 September.
Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "It is fantastic news that another major production is coming to film in Glasgow, and another sign that we are becoming the UK’s film-friendliest city.
"The recent experience of the filming of World War Z in the city was extremely positive, and we look forward to welcoming Cloud Atlas later this month."
David Brown, Scottish Line Producer for Cloud Atlas, said: "We are very pleased to be coming to Glasgow later this month.
"The principle reason for coming to Glasgow is the welcome that the city gives to filmmakers.
"We are overwhelmed by the support and encouragement we have received from everyone in the city. This can-do attitude is turning Glasgow into a highly attractive proposition for filmmakers across the world.
"In addition to a positive approach and its position as the gateway to the rest of Scotland, the city's architecture and classic grid system makes it uniquely appealing."
GFO is the film commission for Glasgow, offering a free service to all productions wanting to film in the city - from features, television, commercials to short films, music videos and others. GFO works closely with council departments, Strathclyde Police and productions to ensure that filming activity has the minimum impact on local residents and businesses while delivering the maximum economic impact.
Since its inception, GFO has supported a host of award-winning British films, such as Red Road and large-scale international productions like House of Mirth and The Jacket.
Recently, Glasgow has not only hosted World War Z, starring Brad Pitt, but also Peter Mullan's latest feature Neds and the forthcoming Perfect Sense - starring Ewan McGregor and Eva Green - and The Decoy Bride starring David Tennant.
Glasgow is the centre of the film and television production industry in Scotland, one that has contributed over £150 million to the city's economy over the last decade.
Glasgow has consistently been the best performing city/region within Scotland, providing approximately half of what the industry spends in the country.
