Nexus Creates The Space Between

Internationally acclaimed production company and animation studio Nexus and its digital arm Nexus Interactive Arts have joined creative forces with the prestigious London College of Communication to co-curate The Space Between, an exhibition celebrating the endless artistic possibilities of the space between moving image and interaction, in a constantly changing creative landscape.
Held in the dramatic setting of a disused 80s office building in Canary Wharf, The Space Between is part of the Create 11 festival, a London 2012 initiative funded by the Arts Council to profile the extraordinary creative hub that is East London.
Working with students and alumni of the LCC's Design for Interaction and Moving Image degree, directors and artists from both Nexus' and Nexus Interactive Arts are contributing both live events and a series of outstanding interactive installation to the exhibition. From hi-tech to no-tech, the work stretches artistic boundaries with dynamic and diverse content.
On July 14, Nexus Interactive Arts directors Hellicar & Lewis have created a pop-up party, taking over the second story of the building's four floors with Just Jam. This unique event will feature innovative interactive projections from Hellicar & Lewis, including incredible visuals that map the artists in time to beats and send out showers of voice-responsive kinetic sparks. The set will be broadcast live online, allowing a broader audience to interact and feed comments through to the artists in real-time.
The live event night on the 14th also includes talks from Nexus' founder and executive producer Chris O'Reilly and respected Nexus directors including Johnny Kelly (timings to be confirmed).
Exciting award-winning installations from Nexus Interactive Arts directors Stewdio, Hellicar & Lewis and Quayola will be housed on the ground floor of the building from July 12 to 23, including a playful new interpretation of the computer game classic Pong, a virtual hall of mirrors, and generative animation installation piece.
The LLC graduates will takeover the entire first floor with exciting high tech to no tech installation work. Elsewhere, a series of high profile pop-up restaurants will be making appearances on the third floor and in homage to its surroundings, will be a tribute to 80s glamour and excess!
