Skillset Commissions spherevfx Training

Skillset has commissioned spherevfx to develop a programme of VFX software short courses to develop a new generation of tutors within Skillset's Academy network.
Training the Trainers is the next step in Skillset's series of major initiatives and awards designed to improve the quality of talent entering the visual effects (VFX) industries from UK universities.
Train the Trainers will give VFX tutors the skills needed to create new, high quality VFX courses in some of the UK's top creative media institutions. Staff from Skillset Academies and accredited courses will be able to receive training in software such as Maya, Mari, Nuke and other relevant visual effects software starting in June.
Skillset's lead on VFX projects, Saint John Walker, said: "Teaching VFX isn't just about learning a piece of software really well - that's only one part of the jigsaw. When complemented with other elements like context-heavy masterclasses, accessible professional tools and industry engagement in the course curriculum, you suddenly start to create an environment for excellent new VFX course provision.
"Skillset is training the trainers because we are confident it will create a new landscape of VFX courses to feed talent to this exciting UK industry."
Matt Leonard, Head of Training at spherevfx, said: "We've created a selection of high-end, up-to-date courses specifically designed for the needs of the Skilset Film and Media Academies. We are confident these courses will be instrumental in teaching tutors across the country best industry practices in the leading 3D and visual effects tools."
