Quantel release version 1.3 software for iQ and eQ

The new Version 1.3 software for Quantel’s iQ media platform and eQ mainstream editing system has been released, further boosting the editing and effects power of Quantel’s generationQ for Post range.
Highlights of V1.3 include: AAF data-based archiving; background archive of multi-resolution edits to network or DTF2 drive; calibrated printer light adjustment for log-to-print display and printer light simulation for video-to-print work; enhanced multi-point tracker with offset tracking and prediction; support for Cineon log files; eight track audio editing; profile stretch for varispeed effects; ‘square’ keyframes for faster shot-by-shot working; shuttle bar and jog wheel on-screen interfaces; direct import of text files for titling; support for the latest Neurons 2 and 3 plug-in bundles from VDS. Neurons 2 and 3 include the excellent Tinderbox 1, 2 and 3 plug-ins from the Foundry, and comprise a total of 60 sophisticated effects such as lens blurs, sky and starfield generators, grain tools and warpers.
V1.3 also allows iQ to work with the Thomson Viper Filmstream camera. The Viper output is a 10 bit RGB log 1920 x 1080 signal, which can be recorded directly into iQ with an HSDL option. Only iQ has the power to record and edit Filmstream data in realtime – the day of the digital film OB/remote truck may be approaching fast!
Steve Owen, Quantel Business Manager - Post Production, said, “This release is full of really useful stuff – features, effects and workflow tools that will benefit every editor and their clients in getting the job done even faster, more efficiently and more creatively. It’s more of what generationQ for Post is all about – getting more work through the facility more quickly, and gaining access to profitable new business opportunities with HD and digital film work.”
