Cel-Soft Cel-Scope3D Wins Vidy Award
Cel-Soft has announced that its Cel-Scope3D stereoscopic signal analyser has received a Vidy Award from US-based Videography magazine.
The award was made during the April 2011 NAB Convention in Las Vegas where Cel-Soft exhibited the latest version of Cel-Scope3D.
The longest-running NAB awards programme, Vidy Awards are presented in recognition of achievement in the advancement of the art and science of production and postproduction technology. The Vidy Awards are nominated by industry professionals and selected by editors from the Broadcast/Video Division of NewBay Media.
Robin Palmer, Cel-Soft Founder and Managing Director, said: "This award comes as the high point of an outstandingly successful exhibition. The automated depth-budget logging feature which we introduced this year attracted intense interest from content producers, postproduction houses and broadcasters. It is exactly what the industry needs at a time when new 3D channels are being introduced in practically every developed country. Cel-Scope3D is now recognised as the world's most advanced 3D signal analyser and the instrument of choice for stenographers working in television and digital-cinema.
"We were impressed both by the amount of real business NAB has generated this year and the number of co-exhibitors who came to see the very special edge we have in comprehensive measurement and analysis tools for 3D. The availability of compact and affordable 3D production equipment has created an explosion of interest in 3D programme-making, reinforced by the increasing affordability of 3D television displays. The transition from 2D to 3D demands a lot of practical experience to carry the audience into the stereoscopic medium. Cel-Scope3D makes that transition a lot easier than simply relying on intuition."
Cel-Scope3D is designed for use on set with live inputs as well as for reviewing and playing back 3D media files during postproduction. Available as a complete system or as Microsoft Windows-compatible software, it allows stereoscopic camera alignment to be performed quickly and confidently, ensuring 3D is accurate from the moment of capture. Footage and edits in a wide range of file formats can be viewed and assessed in real times. Disparities are analysed and displayed as clear and intelligible graphics on 2D or 3D monitors. Anaglyph display, touch-screen control and auto-alarm are all supported.
The new logging option automatically displays against timecode the maximum and minimum depth values employed, together with the range in use. These measurements can be shown either in percentage of screen width or in horizontal pixels. A cursor can be placed on any object of interest or point of attention for a instant measurement of that spot's disparity and hence depth.
Cel-Scope3D displays can be scaled and arranged as six or eight windows on one of two PC monitors and on a 3D monitor. Left and right channels can be viewed simultaneously together with actual depth dynamics. Each display window can be set to show waveform, vectorscope and histogram graphics as well as differences in video parameters between each channel.
Geometry issues can be identified easily using built-in real-time image manipulation. Quality-control tests can be performed on live stereoscopic video sources in any 720p, 1080 or 2K format from industry standard capture cards or Firewire inputs, or alternatively from file playback.
