IPV Launches IPVLive Plug-in For Adobe Premiere Pro

IPV, a leading independent supplier of media, metadata and low bitrate, frame-accurate video technology to the broadcast and professional video sectors, will debut its IPVLive plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 at NAB.
IPVLive will enable live, growing, frame-accurate proxies to be streamed directly into the Adobe Premiere Pro editor in a multi-user environment across a standard IT network.
This solution will allow users to have full access to the powerful database of the ipv Curator production asset management and workflow automation system. This provides unparalleled production freedom by allowing users to quickly and easily create fast turnaround highlight packages and promos at their desktops.
With IPVLive, live event and archive material is instantly available with IPV's broadcast standard, timecode accurate, production proxy format and streamed directly into Adobe Premiere Pro to take advantage of the system's advanced editing capabilities - and all while the video is still being ingested.
Working in a collaborative multi-user environment over standard IT networks provides journalists and production teams with tremendous flexibility and efficiencies not only by reducing time to air but also by negating the need for an expanded storage infrastructure to move and distribute high-resolution assets.
Bill Roberts, Director of Professional Video and Audio Product Management at Adobe, said: "IPV is a leader in providing live and precise access to remote, rich content which is a key component for fast turnaround applications like news and sports.
"With the IPVLive plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro proxy workflows are enabled for efficient editing over a standard IT network. The speed and accuracy of this solution makes it a valuable tool for any live, time-critical application."
In this workflow, IPV's Curator system maintains a low bit-rate copy of all the assets and tracks the high-resolution media - whether online, near-line or off-line through a catalogue of associated metadata. The IPVLive plug-in makes this copy available within the flexible Adobe Premiere Pro user interface to provide a seamless editing experience, anywhere along the production chain. Once complete, the project's EDL can be assigned to a variety of network-based, custom workflows automated by the IPV Process Engine freeing up valuable editing resources.
Dave Cole, CEO at IPV, said: "IPVLive is our latest solution supporting live proxy editing in a networked environment that enables journalists to quickly assemble material for news or highlights packages and send these to air quickly and cost-effectively.
"Additionally, Adobe Premiere Pro offers a consistent interface for use across the operation, with the reliable constant and performance of the IPV proxy, enabling many touch points throughout the workflow."
Visitors to NAB 2011 can see the IPVLive plug-in demonstrated on the IPV Stand No. N4017 and the Adobe Stand No. SL3320.
