IPV Software Enhances Workflow
The largest independent supplier of media, metadata and low bitrate, frame-accurate video technology to the broadcast and professional video sectors, are to showcase its comprehensive solution to fully integrate Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 into news and sports workflows for fast turnaround packages.
With its open architecture, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 is an ideal solution for collaborative multi-user environments and can be easily customised to address specific workflow requirements.
The IPV Curator production asset management and workflow automation system, coupled with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 allows live growing frame-accurate proxies to be streamed directly into Adobe Premiere Pro across a standard IT network. This, together with full access to the Curator database, provides unprecedented freedom for quickly producing fast turnaround highlight packages, promos and the management of an entire media archive directly from your desktop.
At IBC2011, IPV will demonstrate a version ideal for the newsroom desktop, with a set of tools that are appropriate for journalists editing their own content. This solution provides more capabilities than a traditional desktop browse editor - including access to live growing media and the addition of fades, dissolves and graphics tools - all within seconds of the ingest starting. The Adobe Premiere Pro interface also provides a simple, fast and familiar environment.
“IPV continues to provide live and precise access to remote, rich content which is critical for fast-paced newsroom environments,” said Bill Roberts, Director of Professional Video and Audio Product Management at Adobe. “By integrating IPV with Adobe Premiere Pro, we are able to speed up the editing process and allow users access to more tools for creating news packages right at their desktops.”
In this workflow, IPV’s Curator system maintains a low bit-rate copy of all the assets and tracks the high-resolution media - whether online, near-line or off-line through a catalogue of associated metadata. Once the story is ready to be published it is passed to the IPV Conform Engine, which contains the full Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 video editing software. Full resolution content is located on the server - where the edits are conformed and the graphics rendered.
“As a multi-threaded system running on a processor farm, the IPV Conform Engine is able to conform material very much faster than real time, while multiple versions are created automatically,” said Dave Cole, Chief Executive Officer of IPV. “Workflows are designed and driven by the IPV Process Engine which uses web services to call each part of the process. This gives it one of the fundamental advantages of a service oriented architecture - the ability to isolate each device and process from the other parts of the network, which means that changes to individual applications will not affect the stability of the whole system.”
Cole added: “This also means that users can create their own workflows, through an intuitive user interface. This could be used to create and implement house rules, for instance on captions or pre-roll material on web outputs.”
Visitors to IBC2011 can see this integrated solution demonstrated on the IPV stand no. 8.B59 and the Adobe stand no. 7.H23.
