Gekko Technology introduces kedo, The Colour Tunable Hard Source

News Image
Gekko Technology, a market leader in LED lighting for film, television and photographic applications, has chosen NAB 2011 as the production launch for kedo, the focusable version of its colour tunable LED based luminaire.
The fresnel based optic within keno provides a focal range of 6:1.
David Amphlett, Gekko Technology Founder and Managing Director, said: "The combination of both focus and high quality tunable white light which kedo offers brings a new dynamic to lighting directors, cameramen and anybody else who cares about how a subject is illuminated for image capture.
"As a hard source, kedo fully complements the existing range of Gekko LED based lamps which now means that, in the right environment, fully LED-based solutions can be deployed which are entirely comparable to more traditional solutions."
kedo has presets at 2,900, 3,200, 4,300, 5,600 and 6,500 kelvin (as well as the ability to match a wide range of colour gels in the entertainment form of the lamp). The fixture is comparable in output intensity to a 900 watt tungsten source and warranted for 20,000 hours. Inherently low power consumption also keeps heat generation to a minimum.
Using a single multi-chip LED array, kedo delivers consistent colour quality as a result of on-board firmware. Output is optimised at 3,200 and 5,600 kelvin (calibrated in comparison to a high quality reference source) with minimal colour shift throughout the dimming range. Intensity and colour temperature can be controlled direct from the on-board control panel, or via DMX.
Gekko Technology will be at the PRG Stand in the Central Hall, at NAB 2011.
